Years ago, we devoted a lot of space to green suits in various forms—from casual to formal. We must admit that to this day, it remains the most popular color right after navy blue, but we notice a change and a departure from subdued garments in favor of those with a personal element. A sky blue wedding suit belongs to the less frequently chosen options, but due to recurring questions about the “sky blue” color, we decided to dedicate a separate article to it.
For What Kind of Wedding Can You Wear a Sky Blue Suit?
From the point of view of rules, a sky blue suit will never be a formal suit. It is a light, spring color that is mainly used in everyday and sport clothing, while elegant garments should be subdued, smooth, and dark. Keeping this in mind, we must follow the properties of the sky blue color to create a cohesive garment with the right character.
First of all, the celebration itself and the dress should not be highly formal, unless you are interested in an eclectic wedding style. Then you can mix different styles as you see fit, but it requires a proper vision. Most often, garments like a beige or sky blue wedding suit are used for boho or rustic weddings, where the atmosphere is more relaxed and less bound by strict dress codes.
Our task is to tailor the custom made suit so that the future groom feels comfortable and special. What to Choose Instead of Sky Blue?
The second color we show in one of our articles is beige. A beige wedding suit with a waistcoat from the same fabric, along with a green bow tie, is an alternative for a boho or rustic wedding that enjoys greater popularity. A beige suit can be made of smooth wool or a blend with linen and silk for a more sporty character—regardless of the decision, such a garment works well during sunny days.
A Sky Blue Suit with a Waistcoat for a Wedding Reception
These photos show that even an informal suit—made of a fabric with a linen blend and featuring a sporty cut—can look appropriate for a wedding and match the wedding dress. The step we took in this suit to achieve this effect is choosing a three-piece option, meaning a sky blue wedding suit with a waistcoat from the same fabric.
Even with a contrasting waistcoat, we would still maintain this effect. Adding a waistcoat is the simplest way to raise the level of formality and the visual presence of a suit, and we use this method for more everyday garments. We are pleased that thanks to this, the suit can be used after the wedding, especially when you separate the set and wear just the jacket or the trousers.
The sky blue jacket has wide, notch lapels, sleeves attached with Neapolitan shirring, a hand-sewn Milanese buttonhole, as well as patch pockets and a rounded bottom. It also uses a looser cut, which is more comfortable for men. The degree of fit is established individually during fittings, but athletic silhouettes can benefit from wider shoulders, sleeves, and chest, as it translates into increased comfort.
What Accessories to Choose for a Sky Blue Suit?
If we want to give the sky blue suit a wedding character, a white shirt is essential. We use a cotton jersey shirt, which thanks to its visible weave is less formal than a smooth shirt, matching the wool-linen texture of the outer fabric. For the tie, we chose a distinct accent in the form of a white background and dark, geometric ornaments. The pattern on the tie works well thanks to the width of the silk and the subdued colors around it. With a light suit, we advise against choosing a dark tie or bow tie, as it can visually weigh down the styling.

Which Shoes for a Sky Blue Suit?
Matching leather shoes to light suits is not the easiest task. We do not want to draw too much attention to the shoes, which happens if we choose black or chocolate shoes, or options from the other end of the spectrum—like cognac or white. The ideal solution is choosing suede leather shoes, which are more subtle, and this is the choice we made for the sky blue and beige wedding suits.
The suede tassel loafers are a model from our collection made of brown leather in a lighter shade. Thanks to this, it matches the blue fabric and stays in its place. The shoes have a leather sole and are sewn using the Goodyear Welted method, which allows for repairs and replacing the sole if necessary.
A Wool and Linen Blend by Dormeuil
To tailor this sky blue custom made wedding suit, we used fabric from the Naturals collection by the French brand Dormeuil. It is wool with a twenty percent addition of linen. The linen is visible in the weave, in the white threads and slubs, giving the material a matte structure and a textured feel. This small addition does not cause excessive creasing. The color palette and the cut can be placed in the background. When discussing what suit is fashionable, we must repeat that outside of classic choices like a tuxedo, a black suit, or a navy blue suit, the choice often falls on green.
